Cowboys Leagues Club helps to build a better world

The Cowboys Leagues Club was once again proud to team up with Cootharinga North Queensland in 2015/16, helping this worthy organisation achieve their mission statement of, “Building a better world with people of all abilities!” Each year the Club is proud to host Cootharinga North Queensland every Thursday night during the off-season of NRL to conduct a popular charity raffle, with Cootharinga raising in excess of $7,900 at the Club in just 17 weeks.

These much needed funds will be directed towards supported accommodation services throughout Townsville, with Cootharinga providing a range of housing and residential support options that enable people with disability to achieve their goals, aspirations and to live life as independently as possible. The Cowboys Leagues Club provided both a busy venue to run the raffles, contributed prizes each week with various sponsors also coming on board to generously donate further items to raffle.

Cowboys Leagues Club General Manager Clint Williams was proud to work with Cootharinga to achieve the Club’s ultimate goal of supporting the diverse North Queensland community.

“Thursday nights are generally one of our busiest nights of the week so it’s a great feeling that we can give back to the community on a night where so many support the Club. We are proud to have such a fantastic relationship with Cootharinga North Queensland and have a great respect for the work they do in North Queensland – they play a major role in supporting people who live with disability,” Clint stated.

Marketing & Public Relations Manager Mandy MacDonald praised the efforts of both the Club, various members of the Cootharinga team and sponsors who made the raffles such a successful fundraiser.

“We are always looking at different ways to raise funds and the raffles at Cowboys Leagues Club are a great fit – we certainly thank both the Club and their patrons for their generosity throughout 2015/16. I would also like to thank our many volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure everything went smoothly, and our many sponsors who without them, such an amazing feat would not have been possible. We can’t wait to return to the Club in late 2016 and will be striving to beat this year’s efforts so we can help even more people in the North Queensland community,” Mandy stated.

The Club is excited to welcome Cootharinga North Queensland back to the Club on Thursday nights at the conclusion of footy season in October. The Club also hosts charity raffles on Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoon and encourages any worthy not-for-profit groups or organisations to register their interest to participate.
