Club Café named BEST IN QLD!
In just 9 short months, Cowboys Leagues Club’s newest dining outlet has already reached star status in Queensland. In an incredible win for a Club outside the state’s metropolitan area, Star Graze was recently named Best Café in Queensland at the 2019 Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence.
These prestigious awards aim to recognize excellence in Queensland’s club industry, with over 1100 guests attending the Brisbane Entertainment Centre for the presentation ceremony. Executive Chef Thomas Martyn was extremely humbled to be recognised amongst the state’s best of the best in dining.
“Star Graze has allowed us to reward our members with completely new dining options which are both great value and high quality. We were also awarded second place for Best Dining in Queensland for Match Restaurant and Grill. This category is the most nominated for, so it’s an amazing coup for the Club.”
“Whether it’s Star Graze or Match Restaurant & Grill, it’s about making sure that no matter the dining experience our patrons want, we have it covered. Both of these accolades are certainly great feedback that we are doing just that,” Thomas revealed.
For General Manager Clint Williams, this award has been a true testament to the incredible work that Thomas and his catering team has put in since Star Graze opened in June 2018.
“We pride ourselves on offering the best dining, entertainment and recreational venue in North Queensland and the Clubs QLD Awards for Excellence provide great recognition for our staff and
the job they do every day. Their goal is to always provide our members and guests with exceptional customer service and their passion for excellence really is something quite special. They truly are what sets us apart from other venues,” Clint confirmed.
The Cowboys Leagues Club also received the Special Achievement Award for Responsible Service of Alcohol and was awarded second place in Queensland at the award ceremony for Best Dining, Award for Outstanding Safety, Special Achievement Award for Responsible Gambling, Best TAB Wagering Operation and Best Club Redevelopment.
Club Operations Manager, Jennifer Unwin, was thrilled with this incredible string of accolades.
“It is certainly a significant achievement for a Club outside the metropolitan area of Brisbane to be a state finalist and awarded second place in Queensland in numerous award categories. It is a definitive recognition of the Club being a premier destination for dining & entertainment in North Queensland and beyond, and something which our members can be extremely proud of,” Jennifer stated.
Clubs Queensland Chief Executive Officer, Doug Flockhart, congratulated Cowboys Leagues Club on their award success.
“The Best Café/Coffee Shop category is a highly competitive award in which Clubs from across Queensland compete. In order to win the support of the judging panel the Cowboys Leagues Club had to demonstrate they offered customers appealing ambiance, superior service, great value for money as well as an exciting array of treats and beverages,” Mr Flockhart said.
“The Club should also be commended for its commitment to the responsible service of alcohol which reflects that it is exceeding the Government’s code of conduct requirements.”
All of these awards have come on the back of the success the Club experienced at last year’s Restaurant & Catering Awards, where the Club was named People’s Choice Best Restaurant in North Queensland for the third year in a row. One thing is clear – dining at Cowboys Leagues Club is always heading for all new heights.
