CLUBS QLD AWARDS 2024

In an exciting coup for North Queensland, the Cowboys Leagues Club recently celebrated an incredible victory at the 2024 Clubs Queensland Awards, taking home the following accolades and topping the podium against other community Clubs right across the state:

  • Best Gaming in Queensland Award | Winner
  • Responsible Service of Gambling Award | Finalist (Top 3 in QLD)
  • Best Café in Queensland Award – Star Graze | Finalist (Top 3 in QLD)
  • Best Chef in Queensland Award – Thomas Martyn | Finalist (Top 5 in QLD)

These prestigious awards aim to recognize excellence in Queensland’s club industry and took place with an audience of over 1000 guests attending the Brisbane Entertainment Centre for the official presentation ceremony.

Cowboys Leagues Club General Manager, Clint Williams, was extremely honoured to be acknowledged amongst the state’s best.

“For a regional Club outside the south-east metropolitan area to win and be named as a finalist at these respected awards, is an amazing achievement by our team and something the entire North Queensland community can be extremely proud of – so we also want to say a MASSIVE thank you to all of our members & guests!” Clint revealed.

The awards are determined by a combination of set criteria and mystery judge visits, and the Queensland Government Office of Liquor & Gaming assists to recognise Clubs which are fully compliant in all responsible gambling & alcohol legislation, and those who go above and beyond to take care of their patrons.

For Operations Coordinator Jen Unwin, the awards affirm the Club’s commitment to safer gambling practices.

“To be named as both a finalist for the Responsible Service of Gambling Award and a winner of the Best Gaming Award certainly demonstrates our dedication to creating a safe & supportive environment for members & guests, with superior responsible gaming initiatives,” Jen stated.

“Safety & compliance is a heavy focus of our Club to ensure we are meeting and exceeding the expectations of our patrons, and these awards certainly reflect that.”

For Executive Chef Thomas Martyn, all of the accolades are a sign that the Club continues to remain at the forefront of the hospitality industry.

“Though I was extremely honoured to be named as a finalist for the Best Chef in Queensland Award, I think this is really a reflection of the entire amazing catering team we have at the Cowboys Leagues Club. All of my team work incredibly hard at creating exceptional dining experiences, and I’m very proud of them for it,” Thomas confirmed.

“Ultimately though, we simply wouldn’t have been able to do it without our longstanding members & guests and we are sincerely grateful for their unwavering support.”
