CLUB CLAIMS DUAL VICTORIES

Thanks to the support of loyal members and guests, the Cowboys Leagues Club has scored a dual victory at the 2019 QLD and NT Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence. For the fourth year running, the Club has taken home the esteemed title of People’s Choice Best Restaurant in Queensland at the prestigious awards ceremony. The Club was also crowned Best Restaurant in a Pub/Club/Tavern in Queensland and was a State finalist in the Best Family Dining Restaurant in Queensland category.

The Awards for Excellence is a nationally recognised, independently judged awards program that celebrates exceptional service and culinary talent across Queensland. More than 130 restaurants, cafes and catering businesses gathered on Monday 26th August at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane to vie for the highly competitive award categories.

General Manager of the Cowboys Leagues Club, Clint Williams, was overwhelmed by the public’s support which resulted in winning the People’s Choice award for the fourth year running, after receiving more votes than any other venue in Queensland.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management and Staff at the Club, I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our loyal members and guests who have taken the time to vote for us. It is certainly an incredible achievement to not only be recognised by a national industry body, but to be recognised by our valued patrons,” Mr Williams said.

“We were extremely humbled to receive the Best Restaurant in a Pub/Club/Tavern in Queensland award and be a State finalist in the Best Family Dining Restaurant in Queensland category. Our venue was judged on customer service, value for money, food presentation and quality, so it’s fantastic to know that we are at the forefront of the hospitality industry.”

The General Manager also counted both wins as a significant victory for the Townsville CBD and North Queensland region.

“For a regional Club to win either of these prestigious awards, from outside the south east corner and up against restaurants in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, is an amazing achievement by our team, and something the entire North Queensland community can be extremely proud of.”

Restaurant and Catering Association CEO Wes Lambert commended the Club on their back-to-back win.

“Cowboys Leagues Club should be proud of their achievements. Running a hospitality business isn’t easy – there’s a lot of blood, sweat and tears that goes into to making it work. But when you get the right mix of staff, produce and service, the results can be extraordinary.”

The award comes off the back of a significant win at the Clubs QLD Awards for Excellence earlier in the year, when the Club was awarded the title of Best Club Café in Queensland and was runner up in the Best Dining in Queensland category. Executive Chef of the Club’s dining outlets, Thomas Martyn, attributes the Club’s ongoing catering success to his hard-working team.

“It is an incredible achievement to be recognised and voted for by the people that matter the most – our loyal members and the North Queensland community. Our entire catering team, back and front of house, was extremely honoured, as it is always our goal to ensure that each and every guest is treated to an amazing dining experience whenever they visit the Club. It’s about making sure that no matter what dining experience our patrons want, we have it covered. Both of these accolades are certainly great feedback that we are doing just that,” Thomas stated.
