Triple Crown – Cowboys Leagues wins People’s Choice Best Restaurant in QLD!

TRIPLE CROWN – COWBOYS LEAGUES CLUB IS THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE!

Thanks to the support of loyal members & guests, the Cowboys Leagues Club has pulled off an amazing triple crown victory at the 2018 QLD & NT Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence. For the third year running, the Club has taken home the esteemed title of People’s Choice Best Restaurant at the prestigious awards ceremony.

The Awards for Excellence is a nationally recognised, independently judged awards program that celebrates exceptional service and culinary talent across the state. More than 450 local restaurants, cafes and catering businesses gathered on Monday 27th August at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane to vie for the highly competitive award categories.

Previously, the People’s Choice award was separated in to two zones, with those zones being North Queensland and South East Queensland. In 2016 and 2017, the Cowboys Leagues Club won the award for the North Queensland zone. In 2018, the Restaurant and Caterers Association amalgamated the two zones to have one winner for the entire state. Spectacularly, the Cowboys Leagues Club won the award for People’s Choice Best Restaurant in Queensland after receiving more votes than any other venue in the entire state.

General Manager of the Cowboys Leagues Club, Clint Williams, was overwhelmed by the public’s support and online voting which resulted in winning the People’s Choice award for the third year running.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management & Staff at the Club, I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our loyal members & guests who have taken the time to vote for us. It is certainly an incredible achievement to not only be recognized by a national industry body, but to be recognized by the very people which we rely on to succeed,” Mr Williams stated.

The General Manager also counted the win as a significant victory for the Townsville CBD and North Queensland region.

“For a regional Club to win this prestigious award, from outside the south east metropolitan area and up against noteworthy Restaurants in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, is an amazing achievement by our team, and something the entire North Queensland community can be extremely proud of,” he stated.

Restaurant & Catering Association CEO Juliana Payne also commended the Club on their back-to-back win.

“Cowboys Leagues Club should be proud of their achievements. Running a hospitality business isn’t easy – there’s a lot of blood, sweat and tears that goes into to making it work. But when you get the right mix of staff, produce and service, the results can be extraordinary,” she confirmed.

The award also comes off the back of a significant win at the Clubs QLD Awards for Excellence earlier in the year, when the Club was awarded the title of Best Dining in Queensland. Executive Chef of the Club’s dining outlets, Thomas Martyn, attributes the Club’s ongoing success to his hard-working catering team.

“It is an incredible achievement to be voted the Best Restaurant in Queensland by the people that matter the most – our loyal members & the North Queensland community. Our entire catering team, back & front of house, was extremely honoured, as it is always our goal to ensure that each & every guest is treated to an amazing dining experience whenever they visit the Club. In receiving this award, we couldn’t get any better recognition that we are achieving that goal and we will continue to strive for excellence within the hospitality industry,” Thomas stated.

For Thomas and his team, there has been little time to revel in their title – the Club recently opened a brand new dining outlet within the venue called Star Graze, with additional seating for 130+ diners and a brand new menu, bar & lounge. The Executive Chef is looking forward to Star Graze following in Match Restaurant & Grill’s footsteps.

“There is never time to get complacent in the hospitality arena and we are always looking for new & unique ways to please our patrons. Star Graze has allowed us to reward our members with completely new dining options, and we are enjoying being able to delight our diners in an all new way. I hope our members are just as excited to dine at both Match Restaurant & Grill & Star Graze!” Thomas revealed.
