Dishing up dollars to the community

Dishing up great value meal deals has always been an important part of Cowboys Leagues Club’s philosophy, but in 2018 the Club was proud to dish up a little extra for the North Queensland community.

In a delightful twist to normal operations, the Club’s chefs at Match Restaurant & Grill have actually been dishing up dollars to worthy organisations in the community with every meal they crafted over the past few months – thankfully in theory only, as every meal has also been entirely edible & delicious!

It all started with a key charity campaign in 2018, when those who attended the Cowboys Vs Storm game at 1300SMILES Stadium were given a free meal voucher at the gates. This voucher included an added incentive to redeem – for every voucher redeemed, the Club would donate $1 to a charity of their choice. Charities included Ronald McDonald House NQ, the Sky Foundation, Men of League, Angel Paws and the Cowboys Community Foundation.

Through the generosity and backing of the community, an incredible 755 vouchers were redeemed, resulting in $755 being distributed to the 5 worthy charities. The Club was so overwhelmed by such a fantastic response, that General Manager Clint Williams decided to match this figure, bringing the total donations figure to over $1,500.

“It was great to see so many loyal members jump on board and help us raise funds for such worthy organisations in the North Queensland community. Our Mission Statement for the Club is Our People, Our Team, Our Community and initiatives such as these truly embrace these values,” Clint said.

“Whilst we will always be the official home of the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, we see ourselves as so much more than just a Leagues Club. We have a firm belief in striving to support the community that supports us, in any way possible,” Clint explained.

Whilst 2019 has only just begun, the Cowboys Leagues Club is keen to continue supporting the North Queensland community throughout the year. In 2018, the Club’s total donations to the community are estimated to exceed a whopping $400,000 and the Club is hoping to top this figure in 2019.
