Cowboys named Best Dining in QLD!

The Cowboys Leagues Club has already celebrated a significant victory off the field in 2018, recently crowned the Best Dining in Queensland and awarded a string of other accolades at the prestigious 2018 Clubs QLD Awards for Excellence.

The Clubs QLD Awards aim to recognize excellence in Queensland’s club industry, with over 1000 guests attending the Brisbane Entertainment Centre for the presentation ceremony in March.

General Manager of the Cowboys Leagues Club, Clint Williams, could not be happier with this impressive feat for a Club outside the south east metropolitan area.

“Not only is the Best Dining category one of the most nominated and highly sought-after titles, but this year Clubs QLD had a record number of award submissions. For a regional Club outside the south east metropolitan area to win this prestigious award, is an amazing achievement by our team, and something the entire North Queensland community can be extremely proud of,” Mr Williams stated.

In addition to winning the coveted title of Best Dining in Queensland, the Cowboys Leagues Club was a state finalist (Top 3 in QLD) for Best Club Diversification, Award for Outstanding Safety, Special Achievement Award for Responsible Gambling and Best UBET Wagering Operation. They then topped off the awards night by winning the Special Achievement Award for Responsible Service of Alcohol.

“Of all the Clubs that were entered across the state, the Cowboys Leagues Club received the most combined finalist and award titles, which is something our team is extremely proud of. We were extremely honoured to receive the Award for Responsible Service of Alcohol which is presented and sponsored by the Queensland Government. Safety and compliance is a heavy focus of our business to ensure we are meeting the expectations of our members and guests, and to be recognized as the best in the state for this category reinforces our strong commitment to the North Queensland community,” Mr Williams confirmed.

For the Club’s Executive Chef Thomas Martyn, the efforts of an entire team of hardworking staff played a major factor in the Club’s success.

“We pride ourselves on offering the best dining, entertainment and recreational venue in North Queensland and these awards provide great recognition for our staff and the job they do every day. Their goal is to always provide our members and guests with exceptional customer service and their passion for excellence really is something quite special. They truly are what sets us apart from other venues,” Mr Martyn confirmed.

“We are also extremely grateful for our longstanding members and guests, who without their support, we simply couldn’t do what we do every day. We are passionate about providing an outstanding experience to all of our patrons and it is extremely rewarding to discover we are meeting this goal.”

Clubs Queensland Chief Executive Officer, Doug Flockhart, congratulated Cowboys Leagues Club on their award success.

“It’s wonderful to see so many of our regional clubs performing so strongly and reinvesting heavily in their local community,” Mr Flockhart said.

“Best Dining in Queensland is a great win for the official home of the Cowboys and the judges took into consideration the menu on offer, the quality of service, cleanliness, the ambience of the venue and the performance of the staff.”

“The club should also be commended for its commitment to the responsible service of alcohol which reflects that it is exceeding the Government’s code of conduct requirements.”

These awards come on the back of the success the Club experienced at last year’s Restaurant & Catering Awards, where the Club was named People’s Choice Best Restaurant in North Queensland for the second year in a row. In 2017, the Club was also awarded the Best Club Café in Queensland at the Clubs Queensland Awards.

These achievements have also played a significant part in the Club’s recent renovations and planned expansion. This expansion into adjacent property at 305 Flinders Street will increase the Club’s floor space by nearly 1000m² and will include a brand new dining and beverage offering, conference room, further improvements to the gaming area, a unique indoor/outdoor kids zone with adjacent dining areas for parents, and new amenities. The project is due for completion in June 2018.
