Cowboys renovate on the block
The Cowboys Leagues Club is preparing for its very own version of hit TV series The Block this year, embarking on a massive renovation and expansion into 305 Flinders Street, an adjacent property which the Club purchased in late 2015. It comes after a $6.5 million renovation was completed in July of 2015, and is a key component of the Clubs strategy to continue delivering even more facilities and unique offerings as Townsville’s premier entertainment destination.
The first phase of works of the neighbouring block is set to kick into high gear in in the first half of 2017, with the Club occupying approximately 900m2 of the 1100m2 building. Members can expect the new area to compliment the recent renovations, but with a brand new feel and identity which General Manager Clint Williams believes will leave both members and guests suitably impressed.
“It’s exciting to see the plans for the new property beginning to take shape – the area will include a brand new dining outlet with an additional 130+ seating capacity, a massive indoor/outdoor kids play area, additional gaming facilities, small function room, and a funky lounge area,” Clint excitedly revealed.
“In my opinion the new area will be somewhat of a game changer for our Club, by creating a new offering that will appeal not only to the traditional Club goers, but also those looking for a funky venue to dine or drink. All, without the expensive prices that normally come with that type of offering. It will be a place for both the young and young at heart to enjoy,” the General Manager confirmed.
Executive Chef Thomas Martyn can’t wait to deliver yet another dining option to the Club’s entertainment precinct.
“I thought things couldn’t get any better after Match Restaurant & Grill being awarded 2016 People’s Choice Best Restaurant in North QLD, but with the chance to add yet another amazing dining option at the Club, the sky is the limit! I can’t wait to get started on bringing something brand new and unique to our local patrons,” Thomas states.
Operations Manager Jennifer Unwin is confident that as has been the case with previous renovations, there will be extremely minimal disruption to guests utilising the current facilities, with the majority of works being completed after-hours and in the adjacent property.
“Our Members can be rest assured that it will simply be business as usual. We don’t even foresee the closure of any part of the current facilities at any point, as most work will take place behind hoarding and in the new area,” Jen states.
Members will also be able to get a closer look at the stunning new plans when hoarding is erected at the commencement of the renovation, with large scale murals planned to showcase the final product. As always though, the Club will keep a few secrets up its sleeve (just like a true reality renovation show), as it prepares to wow its audience – stay tuned in to your Club for the big reveal.
